“What a piece of work is a man! How noble in?Reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving?how express and admirable! In action how like an Angel!?in apprehension how like a god! the beauty of the?world! the paragon of animals! and yet to me, what is?this quintessence of dust?” Hamlet, W. Shakespeare
In a world where people believe in nothing, anyone who believes in something becomes a threat.
Premiere 9th April 2013 at RAS/Sandnes Kulturhus 19:30
A new evening length dance work conceived for an all male cast, investigating masculinity, physicality and the impact of male cultures; a performance about power, powerlessness and men; from the Norwegian perspective: the world’s “one present”.
The work seeks to question perceptions of male ideals in our culture and the complexity of choices and expectations modern Scandinavian men meet. It seeks to investigate the potential conflict between these expectations and the natural masculine drives and energy that regardless of outcome, positive or negative, always will seek to find an expression.
