Plastic Memory (2007)

Plastic Memory was created on the road, in the intersections where cultures intertwine, where memories create the backdrop for new expectations and experiences.

Our bodies carry history. Memories evaporate through movement. Images rewind and reappear. Hearing a forgotten song. When we can no longer see each other…

The work explores the play between society’s collective memory and code and the individual’s private memory and references by investigating the symbiotic relationship between memory and emotion as vehicles for expression of identity.

Plastic Memory is a Kari Hoaas Production commissioned by Dance House Norway in Oslo. Funds for the work were provided by Arts Council Norway and The Norwegian Fund for Performing Artists. The work was created, in part at a Cia Lantana residency in Barcelona, Spain. The performances in Salt Lake City were made possible by TrasaUrban Arts Collective.
