Now I see that I will never find the light unless like the candle I am my own fuel consuming myself.– Bruce Lee

HEAT is the second work by Kari Hoaas in a cycle of works dealing with the vast issues of human created climate change, offering alternative approaches to dealing with the challenges and emotional fallout the continued political paralysis in facing these issues create. Other works in the cycle are Be Like Water(2015) and the upcoming series Pure Projects

HEAT is a post-apocalyptic installation that transforms into a performance that evolves into a dance party and community event.
Merging the lines seperating concert dance and social dance, highart and popular cultures, HEAT seeks to motivate spontanious mass mobilization, exposing and blurring the lines between community and individuality, dependence and interdependence, leaders and followers. Aiming for the extatic, the work offers a unique and immersive group experience, where the simple joy of moving our bodies to rythm together becomes a radical act.

In the creation of HEAT choreographer Kari Hoaas has joined forces with Norwegian DJ Niwin and concert lighting designer Tord Eliassen to create an everevolving performance format that adapts and changes with each location, connecting directly to local artistic communities and audiences.
